Barrington Photo

Well, the summer flew by! The foals are weaned, growing, and are hairy in preparation for the winter months! November was mostly wet and windy but I was so glad that I had some nice weather prior for weaning them.

The breeding season was challenging this year and we were successful in getting only one of the mares in foal for 2025. Darlequin, our homebred mare, is in foal to Vilancio (Vitalis/Lancet/Rubenstein). “Quin” was a gold medal foal and was awarded a 1A prize at her mare inspection. We expect this to be a really nice cross!

The foal inspection was in September and both foals received favourable comments from the judges. Barrington (Belissimo M/Florencio/Weltmeyer) received a gold medal, and was listed in the top ten 2024 foals. He was also awarded the top dressage foal by the Canadian Hanoverian Society. We were not expecting that and feel very honoured as breeders. Barrington’s dam, Florencia is retired now so she finished her excellent breeding career on a high note!

The yearlings (coming two in 2025) are maturing nicely. They worked on trailer loading, leading down to the beach individually and all the other routine handling that will prepare them for future homes! Bria (Benicio/Florencio/Weltmeyer), who is Barrington’s half sibling is turning three and will be heading to the trainers this spring to be lightly started.

Below is a photo of Barrington with his amazing dam Florencia at his inspection this past September.
