Update January

Another year is under way!  Winter came earlier than expected so we were not able to get the fencing done this fall but all the materials are stored and ready to go, come spring.  The plan is to increase the pastures so we can rotationally graze the horses next summer.  Hoping to get an outdoor ring done and possibly a new building.  The colts Darwin and Dorval were gelded and have recovered nicely.  Their half sister Delina can hold her own with those two when the “horsing ” around starts 🙂

The broodmares are all doing well and rounding out.  Looking forward to the new foals and currently deciding what next year’s breeding plans are going to look like.  Really enjoy researching stallions and this is a perfect time to sit by the wood stove and do just that!

Video of Darwin

We are so pleased to announce that Darwin is sold to Cindy Matheson of Tea Hill Stable, Stratford, PEI.  This is going to be an exciting pair to watch!  Darwin is staying with us for a few months before he leaves for his new home so we can enjoy him for a little while yet.  He is such a nice colt 🙂

Update September

This was one our busiest summers yet!  With friends and family visiting, foaling and rebreeding, the months flew by.  We had three lovely foals this year, two colts, and a filly all sired by the terrific Hanoverian stallion Dauphin.  For 2019, three mares are confirmed in foal and we are very excited about next year’s crop!

EM Donatasha (DeNiro/Wanderbursch II/Saluto) is in foal to Benetton Dream.

Florencia 22 (Florencio I/Weltmeyer/Wenzel I) is in foal to Londonderry.

Highland Lily (Hampton/Dauphin/Wonderland) is back in foal to Dauphin.

The photo below is of Donatasha taken shortly after her long trip up the east coast from  Florida to the Island.  She settled in well and we are quite excited to add her to the breeding program.  She is a young looking 17 year old!

Video of Dorval

This fellow is maturing into a good sized colt.  He is a sweet foal with a very kind eye. Hard to say whether he will be liver chestnut or not.  He is shedding out darker in the hind end than the front so who knows!

Update – June

Well, it has been a very busy month with foaling, rebreeding and adding two new broodmares to the herd!  Highland Lily had a colt, (Darwin)  Safira had a filly, (Delina) and Ebon’s Belle Amie had a colt, (Dorval)  all sired by the lovely Hanoverian stallion Dauphin.  Each is special in their own way and we look forward to watching them grow! The photo is of Dorval, a Canadian Warmblood colt, (five days old) and his awesome mother Belle.

Update – February

Pictured from left to right: Brio, Bellezza, (Bonheur/ Beau Soleil/Warkanson) and Symphony (Schwarzenegger/Hampton/Dauphin).  Turning two this spring, these youngsters are growing! Currently, the two geldings are 15.3hh and Bellezza is 15.2hh. The winter has been pretty decent so far with no major snowstorms or power outages.  It has been icy at times, but the horses have been very sensible when moving about.  The Annual General Meetings for the Canadian Warmblood Horse Breeders  Association and the Canadian Hanoverian Society are in March and am planning to  attend both. It is always great to meet new and old friends!

Update – October

Our two Bonheur foals, pictured left to right, are Buchanan (Hanoverian colt) and Brighton (Canadian Warmblood filly). Both have grown so much!  They attended their respective inspections in August/September.

These autumn days has been super for trail riding our three year old Hanoverian, Safira.  She loves to hack through the woods and has no problem heading out on her own.  She has an amazing temperament and such a good mind.  Her half sibling, Symphony, currently 19 months, shows those same characteristics as well!
